Type of Contests Brief Description

Expressing ideas and/or opinions to the audience through speech
Specific Criteria

  1. The speech topic shall concern either global climate change or environmental preservation.
  2. The speech structure shall include an introduction, a body and a conclusion.
  3. Participants shall deliver the speech without reading a script.
  4. When delivering the speech, participants shall stand up and dress formally.
  5. In addition to the general information, participants shall mention the speech title at the beginning of the video.
  6. In the video, participants shall be clearly visible, at least from head to knees.
  7. The quality of the work is judged with regard to its content, language, the participant’s performance, and video presentation.
  8. The length of the video shall be 4–7 minutes

Retelling Indonesian folklore
Specific Criteria

  1. Participants shall tell a story based on Indonesian folklore from the provinces listed in the annex to this letter of announcement.
  2. Participants shall tell the story without reading a script.
  3. Participants may add sound effects and music to the video.
  4. In addition to the general information, participants shall mention the story’s title, its place of origin, and its source at the beginning of their video.
  5. In the video, participants shall be clearly visible, at least from head to knees.
  6. The quality of the work is judged with regard to its content, language, the participant’s performance, and video presentation.
  7. The length of the video shall be 4–7 minutes.

Singing an Indonesian song, composed by an Indonesian Musician
Specific Criteria

  1. Participants shall sing a mandatory Indonesian song and an additional Indonesian song to be chosen from the list provided.
  2. The title of the mandatory Indonesian song shall be “Tanah Airku” composed by Ibu Soed (Saridjah Niung).
  3. The additional Indonesian song shall be selected from the list of the song titles attached to this letter of announcement.
  4. Participants may sing with or without accompanying music. The accompanying music may be karaoke (minus one track) or musical instruments to be played by the participants themselves.
  5. Participants shall not manipulate (edit) his voice using audio editing applications.
  6. In addition to the general information, participants shall mention the song title and the songwriter at the beginning of their video.
  7. Participants shall sing the mandatory and the additional songs consecutively.
  8. The video shall be taken using a static shot.
  9. In the video, participants shall be clearly visible, at least from head to knees.
  10. The quality of the work is judged with regard to the language, the participant’s performance, and video presentation.
  11. The maximum length of the video shall be 10 minutes.

Reciting poetry written by Indonesian poets
Specific Criteria

  1. Participants shall read a mandatory Indonesian poem and an additional Indonesian poem to be chosen from the list provided.
  2. The title of the mandatory poem shall be “Membaca Tanda-Tanda” composed by Taufiq Ismail.
  3. The additional poem shall be selected from the list of poem titles attached to this announcement.
  4. Participants shall read the poem wholeheartedly according to their own creativity.
  5. In addition to the general information, participants shall mention the poem’s title and the poet’s name at the beginning of the video.
  6. Participants shall read the mandatory poem and the additional poems consecutively.
  7. In the video, participants shall be clearly visible, at least from head to knees.
  8. The quality of the work is judged with regard to the language, the participant’s performance, and video presentation.
  9. The maximum length of the video shall be 10 minutes.

Presents several verses of pantun works itself about one theme
Specific Criteria

  1. A pantun has a stanza consisting of four rhyming lines.
  2. Participants shall present eight pantuns with the following structure.
    • One stanza contains greetings.
    • One stanza contains self-introduction.
    • Five stanzas contains the body of the pantun.
    • One stanza contains the closing.
  3. Participants shall be clearly visible, at least from head to knees.
  4. The quality of the work is judged with regard to its content, language, the participant’s performance, and video presentation.
  5. The maximum length of the video shall be 5 minutes.

Reporting news, information, or observations about an event or trip
Specific Criteria

  1. The news reporting topic shall concern natural wealth or attempts to protect the environment in Indonesia or the participant’s country of origin.
  2. Participants shall conduct on-site reporting instead of delivering news in a studio.
  3. In addition to the general information, participants shall mention the news report title and the location at the beginning of their video.
  4. The quality of the video is judged with regard to its content, language, the participant’s performance, and video presentation.
  5. The length of the video shall be 5–8 minutes.

Write your own letter to the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia
Specific Criteria

  1. Participants shall write a personal letter addressed to the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.
  2. The letter shall express the participant's own ideas or opinions.
  3. The letter shall be written in formal Bahasa Indonesia.
  4. The letter shall be typed and contain 400-500 words in length.
  5. The letter shall be typed in A4 paper with 12-point Times New Roman font and 1.5 spacing.
  6. The identity of the participants, including name, country of origin, and type of competition shall be typed on a separate page (as first page).
  7. The quality of the letter is judged with regard to its content, structure, and language.

Announcement and Awards


The announcement of and awards for the best participants are organised as follows.
  1. The finalists of each competition will be announced through the Agency for Language Development and Cultivation website, the BIPA Daring website, and the Instagram accounts of the Agency for Language Development and Cultivation and BIPA Kemdikbud.
  2. All finalists will be invited to Bali, Indonesia to compete in the final round.
  3. The maximum number of finalists for the seven competitions is 105 from various countries.
  4. The finalists' round trip costs from their place of origin to Bali, Indonesia as well as the costs of accommodation, meals, and organisation of the final round will be borne by the Agency for Language Development and Cultivation in strict compliance with the regulations.
  5. All finalists will be rewarded with a certificate and souvenir.
  6. The first, second, and third place winners from each competition in the final round will be awarded with funds, certificate, and souvenir.
  7. The decision of the jury and committee on the winners is final and cannot be contested.

Participant Criteria

To participate in the competition, a participant shall.

be non-Indonesian in citizenship

have the ability to speak bahasa Indonesia

be at least 18 years old in Janaury 2024

be in possession of an active e-mail
 

5

be non-winner of Best Participant I—III and/or Category A award on each contest of FHI of the previous years

be willing to travel to Indonesia to participate in the final round if selected as a finalist
 

Terms of Contest


  Registration Instructions:
  1. Read the entire announcement letter before registering.
  2. Use an active e-mail address when registering.
  3. Fill in all data correctly.
  4. Provide video links for speech, story telling, singing, poetry, or rhyme contest that can be accessed by the committee.
